- A total of 1,198 students are currently enrolled at BSM, a private Catholic school for grades 7-12.
- The class numbers break down as follows:
Seniors: 231 Juniors: 218 Sophomores: 244 Freshmen: 233 8th Graders: 143 7th Graders: 129 - Current enrollment includes 54% boys and 46% girls.
- The average class sizes are 24 in the junior high and 22 in the high school.
- The faculty/student ratio is 11.4 students per teacher.
- BSM students come from over 30 different school districts, with the largest number of students coming from the Wayzata, Robbinsdale, Hopkins, Minneapolis, Eden Prairie, Edina, Minnetonka, and St. Louis Park districts.
- Twelve percent of our students are students of color; 72% are Catholic.
- All students are required to take one course in theology each semester.
- BSM offers 13 different AP classes. AP subjects include the following: Language and Composition, English Literature, United States History, European History, Government and Politics – Comparative, Government and Politics – US, Macroeconomics, Biology, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, French, and Spanish.
- The faculty includes 103 professional staff members, 62% who hold master’s or other graduate degrees, 85% with study beyond the bachelor’s level.
- All students receive an Apple MacBook laptop for use during the school year.
- On average, 98% of graduating seniors go on to postsecondary education.
- Out of the Class of 2010, 98% took the ACT and scored an average of 26.4, 5.4 points above the national average. (2011 statistics coming soon.)
- Over 90% of BSM students participate in at least one of over 60 extracurricular offerings.
- BSM classes run on a traditional daily schedule, with the high school having eight class periods plus a homeroom between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. The junior high school day, which runs from 8 a.m.-2:37 p.m. holds eight periods plus two short homerooms.
- The entire school operates on a semester system.
- Students and parents can check grades online via the PowerSchool.
- BSM is accredited by AdvancEd and affiliated with the National Association of Independent Schools, the National Catholic Education Association, and Twin West Chamber of Commerce.
- BSM is one of only two Service-learning leader schools in Minnesota. Service-learning is a learning method in which students have leadership roles in thoughtfully organized service experiences that meet real needs in the community. The service is integrated into the students' academic studies with structured time to research, reflect, discuss, and connect their experiences to their learning and their world view.
- The Red Knights are part of the North Suburban Conference for most extracurricular activities.
